Canada Express Entry News Update

IRCC Unexpectedly Invites 700 Candidates in Latest All-Program Draw

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has extended invitations to 700 candidates in the most recent Express Entry draw. Here at Unity Partners, we always stay tuned to these developments, providing you with timely updates and professional advice on your immigration journey.

This was an all-program draw, requiring candidates to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 511 – the highest we’ve seen this year. The Express Entry system, which is the tool utilized by IRCC to manage applications for permanent residency, evaluates candidates based on various factors, including work experience, language skills, education, and more. These factors contribute to each candidate’s CRS score, and high-scoring candidates are most likely to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

The most recent draw has certainly sparked interest, as IRCC has previously announced that it will invite 1,500 healthcare workers via category-based selection on July 5th. Notably, this will be the first time candidates with work experience in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations are also expected to be invited in a category-based selection draw for Express Entry. The suspense is building as we wait to see the minimum CRS score required for healthcare and STEM candidates.

At Unity Partners, we recognize the importance of staying up-to-date with these developments. It allows us to provide our clients with the best immigration strategies and keeps us well-versed in all program-specific requirements.

Last week, on June 28th, IRCC held the first-ever Express Entry category-based draw, inviting 500 healthcare workers with a minimum CRS score of 476. On the same day, they announced plans to invite STEM professionals in a category-based Express Entry round in the following week.

The current CRS score demonstrates an interesting rise from the previous all-program draw on June 27, when 4,300 candidates were invited with a minimum CRS score of 486. This change is quite significant, being 35 points higher than the 476 required in the category-based draw on June 28.

Category-based draws are a relatively new type of Express Entry draw, introduced following changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022. These changes allow the immigration minister to invite economic immigrants based on attributes that align with Canada’s economic priorities or promote the French language outside Quebec.

Stay tuned to Unity Partners for more updates and insights on the Express Entry draws. We’re committed to helping you navigate your immigration journey, keeping you informed every step of the way.
